Simply the best experience I've ever had with a bank in 30 years.
I re-mortgaged with Bank Orange / Orange Credit Union in November last year. I found they had the lowest fixed interest rate at the time, but I was very wary of doing an application without going through a mortgage broker as I have always done in the past. I decided to call them and discuss my situation before applying and ended up being put through to a gentlemen called Jake. He took the time to discuss my situation, asked additional questions when appropriate, answered all the questions I had, and then followed up with an email providing his details. I then did further research, including reading the Internet reviews about how service had gone down hill. Somewhat nervously - I went ahead with the application, prepared for it to take ages and for there to be periods of delay and non-communication.
I experienced nothing but exceptional customer service. Jake dealt with me the whole way through; keeping me informed about what the status was, and letting me know indicative timescales as things changed. He responded to my communication in a very timely manner and was always polite and friendly. He even offered to set up the nicknames I would use for each account.
I've been using Bank Orange now for a few months, including their mobile app and online banking. It's all worked flawlessly and does all the things that I need to be able to do through my main bank. Literally the only feature I can't use is Garmin Pay.
Personal banking isn't something you can get at a large bank. In fact I didn't even know what it was until I started using Bank Orange. A few months later, I then received a 'thankyou' hamper that was personalised to my situation. I mean come on!!
Take the risk, try these guys out and maybe you'll end up like me - very happy to have made the decision to step away from the safety of the big4.
